PVD coated Pam 000? Any advises are very much appreciated!
I met with this nice gentleman who is offering to trade his Pam 000 for my SD. Straight trade that is. Complete set Panerai 000 ( pvd custom coated ) with extra straps ! The watch looks really good and very pristine. The only thing is its only got a 2 day power reserve meaning it had to be winded every 2 days?

Would this be a fair trade or should I hang on to my F series and save for the Pam ( which will probably not in the near future )!

    What do you guys think?

Keep the Sea Dweller Erwin, by far the better watch and by far worth more IMHO.

Is that PAM listed for sale on another forum? If so, how much is he selling it for?

If not, what kind of value is he placing on the watch?

My gut says to keep the SD, but I'd like to look at the numbers first.

If it was in the UK the SD as it stands would go for about 3.5K GB pounds, the Pam would go for Brand new without the PVD for about 3K GB pounds, Im not sure whether the PVD would add that much.

I would keep the SD. Seeing yours all the time on here made me buy one. I think you would miss it!

It is a great looking Pam though.. Good luck!

He's not selling it! He's just looking for a straight up trade for an SD! He told me that if I didn't go for it that it will just go back to the closet where it belonged for the longest time! It's a 2006!

Well... regarding the PVD. IMHO sellers seem to think it adds value, while buyers seem to thing it subtracts value. I definitely agree with the later.

Don't let that translate into the deal. That'll be his $650 lost IMHO.

Im not a fan of PVD, one bang and the metal shows through, I have the same opinion as Jeff, I don't think it adds to the value.

Thanks guys for the positive comments! Anyway, if I am going to own a Pam, I've told myself that it's going to be the 111!

IMHO a PAM 000 (I serial) should go for around the 3k mark - give or take a couple hundred. So, it's safe to say that that PAM isn't worth much more than 3k if any at all. Don't do it, Erwin. You'll wind up $1,000 in the hole, my friend.

I'm following the herd on this one. The PAM 000 is a sweet watch, but the PVD coating would be a detractor to me. I love the looks of them, but always worry what it will look like when it gets the first scratch down to the SS layer underneath. :banghead:
