One of the (very nice looking) female assistants of my AD phoned me this afternoon and told me that they had just received a PAM233 (8 days GMT). I had to pass on it since I don't have the funds right now! Damn, I wish I could afford that watch! :banghead:

He does have a PAM270 in stock, though. Not sure if I dare go there and even have a look! Before I know of it, I have flipped god knows how many watches and drained my account to get it!

That watch is worth selling some Rolexes for IMHO.

Two things bug me a bit, though:

1)My AD does not give ANY discount on Panerai's.

2)His watchmakers are not yet authorized to service PAM's with in-house movements. They will be, eventually, but they don't know when they get the green light to touch them.

Yeah I can see why that would bother you. Would feel the same in your shoes. Again, it is a very tough choice.

No ADs give dicounts on Panerai, so that's to be expected. Also, wouldn't you rather Panerai service an inhouse movement rather than your AD anyway? I sure would.

Well, I found out the hard way with one of my Rolex watches that it is not always the best way to go to have the factory service your watch. Also, it can take several months before you get it back, plus Panerai is known to charge a LOT more than a trained Panerai watchmaker would do. I also prefer to be able to just go to my AD to have my watch regulated, if needed. At the moment, I am not even sure the watchmakers are allowed to even regulate it.

I know what you mean, Bo. If I had access to the kind of AD you do, that would definitely color my thinking.

Although I've never owned one, the Pam 233 is my favorite Panerai!

I would personally rather have one than a Deepsea, but personal taste enters into that obviously! I do think a classic Sea Dweller, GMT, and the Pam 233 would be a GREAT trio. Followed perhaps by one of the new Subs in stainless when introduced?

Anyway, I feel your pain. You'll figure something out I'm sure. Good luck!

This is what could happen: ↓↓↓↓

The PAM233 is already gone to another customer, but my AD still has this PAM270..

Actually, if I flipped the DSSD and the GMT II 16760 plus added some of the funds I already have, I could get the PAM270, but not sure if I should do it.

I think that is a bridge to far Bo, 1 stunning watch for 2 stunning watches, IMHO don't do it Bo.

I would tend to agree with you. However, the GMT II 16760 has been on its way out for a while now so I wouldn't miss it too much if I let it go. I love the DSSD for its size and heft, but the PAM270 is also a very big watch, PLUS has a GMT feature. Now, together with the SD and a nice chrono later on, it would be quite a nice duo (coming trio).

    Hi Bo,

I would.. in a flash!... flip the old SD and the 16760 put some additional cahs and go for the PAM270, or the 233 for that matter! Oh yeah...and keep the DSSD! You would have a stunning DUO!!!

    Rgds,
    Ed
