New to the forum but wanted to share...

I wanted a 312 but walked away with a 328L. I immediately put my black gator strap from ABP

    Low L series L00XX/1000

    Welcome to TKF!

Congrats on the 328! It's nice to have the SS bracelet if you need it! :rocker:

The ABP strap looks terrific on it!

Thanks for sharing that great pic, and again welcome!

On the 328L I noticed the T.M. and REG. markings on the crown guard. Does that stand for Trademark and Registered??

    Lovely 328.
Nice to lnow its possible to put a strap on it. We weren't sure.

Roger, the T.M & REG. Do infact stand for trademark and registered respectively and are put on watches with the 1950 case.

Yeah, I guess so, Saif... or was it the other way around? As far as I recall, we were wondering if the SS bracelet for the PAM 328 would fit onto the PAM 312 without any adaptors.

The bracelet on a 328 will definitely fit in a 312. They are identical watches except for the strap/bracelet... and production numbers

    Good to know!

Like discussed in another thread, though, it's good advice to put some clear tape between the lugs since inevitably the bracelet would leave marks on the case as it's steel against steel..

When changing to a leather strap later, those marks should be visible.

Bo, I think we were wondering both scenarios. But good to know its all possible. Wish the bracelet didn't cost as much as an entry level Tag Heuer watch.

They have a higher profit margin on accessories than on thier main product. Its a sneaky way of making money. Same way a hotel charges anywhere from $ 5 to $10 for a glass of coke. They can easily markup the coke by 6,500 percent. Yes the markup on a $8 glass of coke is 6,500 %.
It doesn't seem so blatant because the amount paid is "only" $8. I guess one can "swallow" (no pun intended lol) the cost in exchange for dining at a prestigious place.

Companies cant make so much money on the main product for many reasons, but in the cases of watch market its because first, they need to be competitive and more importantly, imagine multiplying the cost ( amount it costs Panerai to manufacture the PAM312) by 6,500%.

Lets see, a Panerai312 goes for about $6,800 ( fair price , not Swedish prices Jocke lol). Lets assume blindly that it costs them $,4000 to make one unit of PAM312.

    $4,000 x 6,500% = $ 260,000

    $ 6,800 / $4,000 = 1.7 or a markup of 70%.

So, from a price standpoint, they cannot make a big profit on the main product, so they raise the accessory and spare part prices by as high as they can go.

I remember reading an article back in 2003 when steel prices were rocketing, everyone was expecting luxury car prices to shoot as well by as much as 30% but were shocked to see that the increase was only around 12~15 %. This was feasible because the car companies raised thier serviving and spare part prices by 200% and so on. This is done to reel the customer in with reasonable primary products prices but charge exuberant prices for parts.
