I have just now received the approval to post some pics from the SIHH Fair, taken by the admin ("Niffko") of the German watch forum www.watchlounge.de.

Those are beautiful watches. I just visted the website and really like the PAM0026 - from the Luminor Chrono series. Very nice. Thanks for posting this information.

Thats very true. no AM/PM indicator, thats a bit of an oversight by Panerai IMHO- Even then most of us should be able to know if its AM/PM as we will be setting the GMT hand anyway:thumbsup:

That 312 a beauty too- what kind of timescale do you reckon- and you will have saved yourself some $$?

Thanks, Toph! Some actual wristshots will be up later!

I don't know when the PAM312 is going to be availible, but my AD's trying to get hold on one for me. It is a good sign that they're up already on panerai.com, though.

Yeah, they're definitely moving in the right direction. From everything I've read, the Panerai community is extremely pleased.

I've noticed the same though there has been some displeasure at the lack of the domed crystal, I know Bo was a little let down that the 312 didn't have it.

Does anyone have any shots of the back's yet? I'm interested in the back of the 320 which I rean on panaristi has an exhibit back and PR indicator on the back as well! I'm guessing a lot of these are mock up's though and may not have the exhibit backs on them.

Yup, initially I was put off a bit by the less domed crystal. Judging from the pics from the SIHH Fair and the ones on Panerai.com, the less domed crystal does have two advantages in terms of legibility, though:

1)A cosmetical advantage: The crystal does not blurr the numbers, especially the "9" as seen on for instance the PAM270

    2) A practical advantage: The crystal makes telling the time when the watch is viewed from an angle MUCH easier. From what I have heard so far, the less domed crystal also really looks great on the new PAM's!

I still love the superdomed crystal for its vintage "plexi" look, but as stated, a domed crystal makes it a pain in the neck to tell the time.

    Nice pic, Jeff!

What I find a bit odd about many of the PAM mvts. is that Panerai seems to "hide" the movement?? Judging from the pic above, it looks rather crude, imho. You don't get a full view (trains, etc.).

Also, the PAM320 is an odd "GMT" watch since it has NO am/pm or day/night indicator, whatsover! Although it does add to making the dial much more clean looking (I guess that's why the PR indicator went to the back, too), somehow this specific watch is not too practical in terms of GMT function.

I agree Bo, Why go through the expense of a crystal on the back if your going to hide most of the movement? Is it possible these are just test mules and the production versions will be more interesting to look at? It could also be part of the reason these are more affordable.

    just some random thoughts...

I doubt it, Jeff... if you look at the PAM270 it's made in the same style.

Turning back to the superdomed crystal, omitting it and using the less domed one mus account for a great deal of the price difference between PAM's with the in-house Cal. 200X vs. Cal. 900X.

Wishful thinking I guess, oh well it will give me reason to keep the 111 and see about adding a 312 or 320 in the future.
