I'm less of a fan of Cordura than rubber but I really like the dial on that Speedy and the strap brings it all together!

I think the black strap really sets off the black subdials.

    YES!

When I saw the title of this thread, my first reaction was :nono:

However, not only do I like the strap with the watch, I love the watch with the white dial. I am not usually partial to watches with a white dial. Must see if they have this at the Boutique next time I am there, I would love to see it in person. Looks great with the symetrical dial as well.

    Thanks for posting.

    Cheers

I was just checking out the same model with the bracelet on the Omega website. It looks kind of washed out compared to the cordura strap. I reckon that cordura is the perfect match for this model. The texture is perfect with the subdials as well. And I really love the red accents on that dial as well.

Funny how we miss some things. The number of times I have been on the Omega website, and it often takes a thread like this to make bring one's attention to some models.

Similarly, I had looked at the Speedy watches for years and years, never really taking a lot of notice. Even though I always lusted after a manual wind watch with a hesalite crystal. For some reason, it was not until Jeff got his Speedy that I really paid attention. If I had done some research before, and learned what I now know about the Speedy, I probably would have had one long ago!

    Cheers

Carl, I fully agree with you... We do miss some... I didn't hesitate much when it was about hesalite or sapphire when it came to the Moonwatch... I was very lucky to buy one at Omega's Geneve boutique.... Now that makes it even more special to me...

    Cheers

You really got me going now!....

Just starting looking at the Speedy date models. I know that I will never, ever give up my 3750.50 and will likely never get another Speedy. However, I must admit that having a watch with no date as my every day watch, I find myself often thinking how convenient a date would be. I love how they do the date on these models. I really like the one with the grey dial as well!

    Stunning!

    Cheers

BTW I also never realized that the Date models are all with the symmetrical dial (without crown guard) and 40mm

Indeed...the greys, the blacks are stunning....but the 'speedmaster' in red paired by the red tipped seconds hand on Tachymetre is another beauty... Stunning, Yes!

Funny, it was the same with me. All the historical significance, plus the way I was treated at the Boutique. The Vancouver Boutique is located at the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel, which itself has such a history for someone like me who grew up in Vancouver. Located right by the main entrance:

I knew that I could get a discount on the watch at an AD. I guess at my age, the significance of getting the watch at the Boutique was more important. No regrets.

    Cheers
