I somewhat disagree about the domed crystal being an annoyance visually :) In fact, I like the slight warping or distortion when viewing a watch at an angle. That's why I like the PAM243 and the DSSD.

I also like the distorted field of view caused by the domed crystal. Gives it character I say.
Morgman may we see a picture of said miso soup bowl to visualize your opinion.

When I saw the PAM 312 at the Panerai Exhibition, I did not feel that the only slightly domed crystal looked wrong as compared to the case... in fact, imho the 312 is an excellent interpretion of the vintage 1950 style with a modern touch. The watches with Cal. 900X were desperately needed by Panerai in order to compete with other high-end brands that have made updates to their watches, as well...

Yes, it's slimmer (like on the other 1950 cases, as well), and also rises at a less acute angle when seen from the side... it's also "sharper" on the edge.

I actually like the superdomed crystals, as well.. it's just a matter if you prefer "vintage" look or practicability. Personally, I like a domed crystal where you can also actually tell the time from all angles.

Now as for the DSSD crystal, imho it's not more domed than the one of the PAM 312... the distortion of the DSSD crystal is caused by the thickness of the crystal (5.5mm) and not the curve of the crystal.....

Well, let's see what the future brings...

Anyway, imho you did the right thing to go for the 312 instead of the 328..

Of course it's a matter of personal taste and preference, but personally I find a PAM better looking on a strap than on a bracelet; but that's just me..

Also, it's my understanding that the new bracelet has loose endpieces that make it a pain in the neck to swap between bracelet and a strap (which - according to my AD - IS possible: the loose endlinks are held by the "spring"bar... one it's released, the case is the same as the 312; no welded part).

Drawback would be that the SS bracelet is crazily expensive as a spare part if you should want it later on, but then again personally I'd prefer it on straps so that wouldn't pose a problem to me...

Thanks for the updates. I also like Panerais on leather but like the option of having a SS bc for summer when climates are hot and sticky.
I particularly did not go for the 328 because I dislike the new style bc. If I do get a SS bc it will be the older style in full brushed.

Nice pick up! I love my 312 and while the DJ II will be getting a tad bit more wrist time because I just got it but the 312 is my favorite and is my daily wearer.

You got that right! Is it wrong to feel such attachment to a watch?

    What are it's cons?
This is the 1st question I ask myself at a decision making crossroad.
    1- lack of dome
    2- possible new movement anomalies

    Pros:
    1- reasonably priced
    2- inhouse movement
    2- sandwich dial
    3- 1950 case
    4- exibitionist case back
5- rapid swap strap & abudance of 3rd party straps

The pros outweigh the lack of super dome con.
The basic movement helps assure me it should run smoothly as it doesn't have as many complications as the 233.

Should I shed the second strap keeper as its barely holding the tail of my strap on the 4th hole.

Im not sure whether I want to pin it on the 3rd or 4th hole as the former is a little tight (stays put but not too comfortably) while the latter is comfortable but slides around.
Im trying out both for a few hours during the day to find the optimum hole but in both cases the keeper is not serving its purpose.

I guess ultimately I could make it a TKF freebie but that would probably cost the person paying for shipping more than the keeper itself is worth haha.
