You don't see this too often. Rolex and Trojan condoms.
Celebrating the conquest of Everest with a subtle shout out to Sir John Hunt.
Red Sub ad featuring my friend, Capt. Norm Baker, who was actually wearing a 1675 GMT-Master when the photo was taken (see below).
Nice one. :coolanimated:
Here's a nice two page Rolex ad....
I have many old Rolex adverts pre 1955s.
I can scan and post here if you are still interested.
They are all very interesting, and original. Some I have doubles if others want.
I use my adverts in my watch catalogue like here:
Let me know
I'd love to see them!
OK, let me do some scanning. I have some very cool ones.
Also Harwood, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and American manufacturers. Any advert that covers my collection.
I buy a lot of adverts to help me understand Horology of the times.
Give me a day or 2.
Here is one of the first ads for the Submariner.
Early GMT-Master ad, c. 1960.
Ahhhhhh, $240 for a 6542.
Those were the days.
December 2011 copy of "Time":
Thought for a moment there, the guy on the cover of Time was looking at his Explorer II - until I saw the second picture.
I'm digging these new two page ads from Rolex. Especially this one - golf and Rolex, what a combination!!
© don´t know?!
240 bucks! I'll take a gross!
I'm right there with you Steve. Nice ad!!
Drawings like this one of the GMT always leave me with the impression that the case is long(er), whereas modern watches like the 16710 and 14060m hit the eye as being more round.
Does anyone else get that visual impression?
Keep in mind that in the old ads the drawings sometimes did not match the models, and discontinued models were shown for years afterward.
