I know, some very famous reviews about Rolex Cal. 3135 movement already existed in this forum, compared with those posts, my review is short, here is the original source at http://www.rolex-chat.com/rolex-3135-movement-maintains-the-original-value.html

"Accurate, strong, durable", it is very appropriate to use these words to describe Rolex watch. Whether the mountains to the sea, or through the poles, it is omnipotent and will be a good partner for your ultimate trip. The case, whose design inspiration came from marine life, plays a key role, but the super stable movement also has indispensable contribution.

In recent 50 years, the style of Rolex watch has few changes, there were also few models that have complicated functions. The stable performance of Rolex watch has a great relationship with the movement it equipped. In my nearly 20 years of maintenance experience, Cal. 3135, which was developed by Rolex, is indeed one of the most accurate, the strongest and the most durable modern automatic movements, this has been generally recognized worldwide.

Rolex introduced Cal. 3135 movement in 1988, it was improved from Cal. 3035, which was launched by Rolex in 1977. The basic data of 3135 is listed below:

Diameter is 28.1mm, thickness is 6.0mm, frequency 28,800 vph, the movement is adjusted for five positions, 31 jewels, bi-directional automatic winding, balance bridge height adjustable with two nuts, stopwatch Auto calendar with rapid correction, center seconds hand with stop seconds, annular balance with 2 pairs of nuts and Regulating Microstella Breguet, shock rocker and kittens combined escapement wheel.

Compared with Cal. 3035, Cal. 3135 has two biggest changes:

1, The traditional balance cock is changed into balance bridge. This innovation has improved the stability and adjustability of rate adjustment, after being invented, it received many praises and has been promoted in watch industry. At present, there are chronometer movments of other watch brands to adopt this approach, for example: Audemars Piguet's Cal. 3120.

2, Each gear in automatic wheel train system has more tooth, the size of the teeth and the axis is reduced, this will improve the efficiency of winding. In 3135 movement, you can still see the big "red wheels" automatic structure, there is almost no noise when it is running. The Auto rotor doesn't use bearing, keeps the originally simple style. The watch owner had better maintain the movement every 4-6 years, so the watch can work for a long time stably.

Cal. 3135 movement has an intelligent balance wheel, which is the heart of the whole watch. The 4-arm balance wheel is made of Glucydur, it is not vulnerable to the impact of thermal expansion and contraction and won't easily deform. In the event of extreme temperature changes, the roundness of 3135′s balance wheel is better than the 2-arm balance wheel, so the harsh environments, such as climbling and polar adventure, have little impact on the watch.

On the balance wheel, there are two pairs of special screws known as the Microstella system, which can be used for making minor adjustments in timing. The screws will not become loose and are very easy to adjust. Due to the different thickness of the screw, the four screws are divided into two groups, the first group is called "one-second screw", the other is "two-second screw". If you use a professional tool to move the "one-second screw" for one step, the daily rate of the watch will increase or decrease one second(if the screw is close to the balance rim, that indicates the watch runs slower than the standard time, if it is away from the balance rim, then the watch works faster), if you adjust the "two-second screw" for one step, the watch's daily rate will increase or decrease two seconds. This design is not only innovative, but also is practical and embodies Rolex watch's precision.

Rolex Cal. 3135 has two major derivative versions, the basic parts are the same, just expand some functions.

Ca. 3155, has Day and Date mechanisms. On the basic of Cal. 3135, it adds Day wheel, which jumps one grid per day and turns a circle every week.

Cal. 3185 GMT. There is an extra hand on the basic of Cal. 3135, this hand turns a circle every 24 hours, it is used to indicate another time zone, the watch that is equipped with this movement is very suitable for travelers and flight pilots.

Whether the original Cal. 3135 movement, or its derivative versions, they all have stable performances, because convenient maintenance, they are highly appreciated by watch masters. Based on these advantages above, Rolex 3135 turns out the final and the biggest advantage, that is keeping its value.

I haven't counted the number of the parts, actually I can't number them clearly, I don't know, if someone knows, it's my pleasure you write me a comment and let me know.

Cal. 3135 is equipped in the following models:

Hi, Thanks for the lovely detailed discription of the 2 of Rolexs great movts.
My personal experience as I have DJs with 3035 & 3135 movts.
Ths 3135 has a pecular problem of its sten, it does not last long, requires replacement, unlike the 3035 which runs endlessly.
My watch tech tells me he has had to change it on many 3135s.

I doubt it... actually, that site "lifted" more than one of my Rolex reviews without my permission...

    Daytona Review.

    GMT II Review.

I have commented on "his" reviews stating that they were written by me but he just deletes my comments! :banghead:
