Massage techniques include kneading, Cerisea Medica vibration, percussion and rubbing and involve the use of almost any body part including the fingers, hands, wrists, elbows, and feet to perform such tasks. Massage may be applied to certain areas of the body like a tender Achilles tendon or a sore rotator cuff stricken with tendonitis.

One of the reasons massage may be a very beneficial form of tendonitis treatment is because it helps increase blood circulation throughout the muscles of the body. The speedy deliverance of oxygen and nutrients to damaged parts of the body i.e., a sore rotator cuff, Achilles tendon, wrist, knee, elbow etc., will help heal areas afflicted with pain and inflammation.

Deep tissue massage, in particular, is very helpful in improving blood circulation through muscles, tendons and ligaments. Massaging deep muscle layers will help smooth out knots and other areas where impeded or restricted blood flow may prevent natural healing of tendonitis.Acupressure is another type of massage that really helps speed up blood circulation to areas affected by tendonitis pain and inflammation. Similar to acupuncture that uses needles, acupressure uses direct pressure of the fingers and hands on certain parts of the body needing pain relief.

The whole theory behind acupressure is that the body contains several points or meridians where "life energy" flows through. How well life energy, also known as "Qi," flows through these meridians and through one's body serves as a barometer of one's overall health and condition. Disease, sickness or tendonitis pain and inflammation could become a problem if the flow of "life energy" is disturbed or disrupted.
